Ensuring Seamless OMS Transitions
Caspian One partnered with a leading European bank to enhance user experience and operational efficiency during its transition to a new Order Management System (OMS). Traders faced challenges due to disjointed risk visibility between legacy and new platforms, while clients required a streamlined order submission process. Additionally, with a time-sensitive budget allocation, the bank needed to maximise resources effectively while ensuring a smooth migration. Continue reading ↓

Did You Know?
Caspian One helped a European bank enhance its OMS systems by developing a consolidated orderbook adapter and a FIX adapter, enabling a unified risk view and streamlined client order submissions - ensuring smooth trader transition, improved operational continuity, and future scalability.
This story showcases Caspian One’s ability to rapidly mobilise specialised talent and deliver critical system enhancements under tight time constraints. By integrating advanced trading infrastructure solutions, we enabled seamless system transitions, minimised operational disruption, and optimised risk visibility.
Our expertise in application development, OMS integration, and real-time data processing ensured both immediate efficiency gains and long-term scalability, reinforcing the client’s ability to adapt to evolving market demands.
The Challenge
As part of a strategic OMS migration, the bank needed to maintain seamless trading operations while adapting to new systems. Traders lacked a unified view of risk across legacy and new platforms, making it difficult to transition without disrupting trading activity. Additionally, clients required a FIX adapter to integrate order submissions efficiently into the new system.
At the same time, budget constraints created urgency - unutilised funds risked being lost in future allocations. The bank needed a partner who could rapidly assemble a team, develop effective solutions, and deliver tangible outcomes within a compressed timeline.
Our Approach
Caspian One quickly assembled a specialist team, including a Technical Lead and Senior Java Developers, to address two key objectives:
Developing a Consolidated Orderbook Adapter – This allowed traders to view orders from both the legacy and strategic OMS within a single interface, improving decision-making and risk management
Implementing a FIX Adapter – Clients gained a streamlined process for submitting orders using the FIX protocol, ensuring seamless connectivity with the new OMS via Kafka
With a fast-moving timeline, we worked closely with key stakeholders, adopting an agile approach to rapidly deliver critical milestones, including the successful incorporation of forward points logic for the consolidated adapter.
The Outcome
By the end of the project, the bank had successfully integrated both OMS adapters, delivering:
A smooth trader transition, providing a 12-18 month window to fully migrate to the new OMS without disruption
Unified risk visibility across legacy and strategic platforms, eliminating the need for immediate, large-scale retraining
Streamlined order processing for clients, improving efficiency and ensuring seamless execution
Effective budget utilisation, maximising available funding while delivering impactful results
What This Meant for the Client:
With minimal disruption to trading operations and a structured approach to migration, traders gained valuable time to adapt to the new OMS while maintaining operational continuity.
The strategic infrastructure was enhanced, setting the foundation for future scalability and improved efficiency.
Caspian One’s rapid response, technical expertise, and collaborative approach ensured the project was delivered on time, meeting the bank’s strategic, operational, and financial objectives.
