Modernising Critical Infrastructure to Safeguard Global Broadcast Services - Caspian One Client Stories

The Challenge

This leading global content provider faced a crisis - their existing infrastructure was deteriorating, creating risks for their customers, including a major tier-one broadcaster that relied heavily on their platform.

  • Failing playout servers and network transmission systems were causing service instability

  • Underutilised monitoring and control architecture meant that critical issues were not being flagged early enough, leading to delays in response times

  • No structured hierarchy within their monitoring systems, reducing visibility and making it harder to pinpoint and resolve faults

  • Limited internal resources meant they lacked the expertise to conduct a full technical review and execute the required upgrades at speed

Without intervention, these issues threatened to compromise service reliability, damage client relationships, and hinder future expansion in a competitive broadcast technology landscape.

Our Approach

Caspian One deployed a subject matter expert (SME) to conduct a technical review and assessment of the failing infrastructure. This involved:

  • An onsite study of playout servers and network transmission systems to identify hardware and software weaknesses

  • Interviews with key staff members to gather operational insights and pain points in the existing system

  • A detailed analysis of the monitoring and control architecture, highlighting areas of inefficiency and underutilisation

The findings from this review were used to develop an outcome-based Statement of Work (SoW), ensuring a structured, milestone-driven approach to the modernisation process. Caspian One then provided a team of SME Partner resources, fully managed and coordinated by our Project Hub, to execute the required improvements.

Key deliverables included restructuring the monitoring and control architecture by introducing new hierarchical layers to improve fault detection and response times, optimising playout server performance to enhance operational efficiency and service continuity, and implementing automation and enhanced oversight to ensure long-term reliability.

The Outcome

Caspian One successfully delivered all planned modernisation milestones, ensuring the client’s infrastructure was stabilised, optimised, and futureproofed.

  • Service reliability was restored, preventing potential broadcast failures for their tier-one clients

  • Operational efficiency improved, reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and enabling faster issue resolution

  • The client was positioned as a leading provider of future-ready broadcast services, supporting their long-term strategic goals

Following this success, Caspian One was engaged for an additional six-month delivery phase, with a team of seven SME resources executing further infrastructure and monitoring system enhancements across four new projects.
