The Challenge
A global hedge fund sought to modernise its technology infrastructure by migrating to AWS Cloud. The firm had relied on purchasing cloud services directly, resulting in high costs and limited in-house expertise. Their goal was to move to a more sustainable model - one where development teams could build, test, and deploy services independently within a secure, cloud-centric environment.
Despite recognising the advantages, the firm faced significant challenges. Security and regulatory concerns created internal hesitation, with key stakeholders wary of moving sensitive financial data to a public cloud. Shifting priorities and frequent change requests further complicated the process, making it difficult to maintain momentum.

Our Approach
Caspian One worked closely with the hedge fund to develop a cloud migration strategy that balanced security, cost efficiency, and scalability. The engagement began with a discovery phase to assess existing capabilities and outline a structured roadmap. A statement of work was produced, defining clear deliverables, timescales, and governance to keep the project on track.
To ensure a smooth transition, an AWS Subject Matter Expert (SME) was assigned to lead the initiative, focusing on delivering a secure, self-service compute platform that would allow developers to build and deploy independently. The team introduced a Cloud Fundamentals Toolset, equipping internal teams with the resources needed to manage their new infrastructure effectively.
Security remained a core priority throughout. The project included enhancements to AWS infrastructure, addressing concerns around data protection and compliance while improving platform stability and resilience. Despite frequent internal priority shifts, Caspian One’s flexible project management approach ensured that milestones were met without disruption, keeping both stakeholders and technical teams aligned.
The Outcome
The hedge fund successfully transitioned to AWS Cloud, establishing a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure that met both operational and regulatory requirements. Their development teams gained the autonomy to build and deploy services without reliance on external cloud service providers, significantly reducing long-term costs.
