International Women’s Day 2023 - DigitALL

Here at Caspian One, it’s fair to say that female voices are highly influential. 

From Board to entry level, our team benefits from strong professional women who are the driving force behind much of how we operate. Without them, we simply wouldn’t be the business we are today! 

March 8th marks International Women’s Day (IWD), an opportunity for many companies to recognise and celebrate women who contribute to their organisations. This year is even more prevalent for us, given the United Nations ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for gender equality theme.

It's our belief that acknowledging female capability and achievements is an all-year-round activity that goes far beyond a single day in the calendar. This belief is one that’s shared across our communities, with both the FinTech and Broadcast Media technology industries pushing hard to increase female diversity, representation and innovation.  

From a professional services perspective, we’re witnessing tech markets that are calling out for female technologist with STEM backgrounds – whether that’s in technical operations and engineering, coding roles or highly niche specialisms such as AI, automation and Cloud innovations. The challenge comes much earlier down the chain, with STEM at school impacting the number of girls pursuing IT careers. 

Fortunately, groups and charities like Tech She Can, Women in Tech, STEM Women and Stemette Futures, (naming but a few) are helping to inspire and nurture young women across the UK, with reports indicating that the percentage of female graduates with core STEM degrees is steadily growing. In Finance, this is joined by the Women in Finance Charter - a pledge for gender balance across financial services by HM Treasury. 

For our clients, we’re working in partnership to design and support female technologist engagement initiatives in a way that overcomes barriers to entry, educates, and results in inclusive cultures; embracing diversity and flourishing through transparent equality.

These themes are then carried over internally, here at Caspian One. 41% of our leadership team is female (7 of 17) with our Board team for example, including strong female leads - Head of Ops & Finance, Nicole Thompson and Head of Projects, Ellen Price. You then have our Head of People, Hannah Van Tuyl and Sales & Operations Manager Diana Price, both hugely impactful across the business... with the majority of our Operations team consisting of women; from finance (Rachael, Yana, Mara) and business support (Linda) to marketing (Hana) and talent acquisition (Holly). 

You then have our North American team, managed by Danielle Gray (since 2017), which is made up of an equal male/female talent balance, with consultants including Taisha Vurchio, Harriet Gregory and our latest hire, Olivia Beale. On our UK FinTech team, Stephanie Ross has specialised in supporting our candidate for nearly two years - not forgetting the Project Hub, a team led by John Watts, which is otherwise 100% female (including Rosemary Nnamudi, Caroline Howlin and Harriet Simpson).  


As we continue in our growth strategies through 2023/24, our mission to encourage more female talent to join our teams continues. One example includes our flexible working arrangements and supportive culture that allows easy return to work for mums.
